God's work Our Hands. 

Featured below is an overview of the work our congregation does to live out our faith mission in the world. This includes our social ministry committee and programs that we particpate in with other organizations and the ELCA at large. 

 
 

Social Ministry Committee

The Social Ministry Committee is involved with the needs and concerns of people, in the congregation, the local and global community.

The Committee notes the efforts of the congregation in holiday projects, local charities and food pantries. Donations are also made missions in Africa and other least developed countries. 

 Member's project of sending cards to those who are ill or bereaved.  Our church collaborates  with different organization's including (Thrivent). Purchasing Christmas gifts for needy families,  More information about our activities is included in the more info button and listed below. 

 

Little Dresses for Africa

Please join us every Sunday at 9:30 am. In the fireplace room as we continue to make pillowcase dress for little girls in Africa. 

Donation of pillowcases, double-fold bias tape, 1/4 elastic. white thread & monetary donations for shipping.

Food Pantry

Our Saviour provides food to people in need in the Virginia Beach area. We are partnered with the Virginia Beach Department of Social Services. We welcome donations such as: pasta, rice, baby food, pasta sauces (jar or dry mix), canned potatoes, mixed vegetables, salt/pepper, juice and broth. 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Gardening In Faith Together (GIFT) 

 

And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground The Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

GIFT is group of all ages that meets quarterly in October, February, May and August. 

GIFT is a a fellowship of believers with a common interest and love of plants. The fellowship group learns and grows together. By using gardening as an expression of our Christian faith.  GIFT is concerned with stewardship of creation and our church property. 

Our areas of focus include, A concern for others: sharing plants, flowers and fruits of the earth. Our Church property beautification on Shore Drive. The care of indoor plants within the church. As well as the care for the gardens and plants that are featured in the bible. Ecumenical

Bayside Partners 

OSLC has affiliations with other Lutheran churches in the Tidewater area and churches affiliated with Bayside Ecumenical Council.  Our Saviours participates in the ecumenical Thanksgiving service and holy week activities including the Stations of the Cross community observance held in Town Center Plaza,  Virginia Beach. 

Interfaith Alliance of Beach 

Our Saviour’s also participates in the Interfaith Alliance of Beach which coordinates various charitable projects and programs to assist the needs and the needed of the Tidewater area.

OSLC has also partnered with Interfaith Alliance of the Beach

Pastor Griffith is a member of the Taperestry Group of Virginia
